“More than 300 companies have set up offshore operations in Honduras over the last several years. They include manufacturers of apparel and textiles, assemblers of automotive and electronic parts, and companies operating in the agroindustry and tourism sectors. On the list of apparel suppliers to the United States, Honduras ranks 1st in the Caribbean, 1st among Central American countries and 3rd in the world. Honduras is also the fourth largest supplier of harnesses to the U.S. market."

Foreign Commercial Service

Welcome to the Commercial Section of the U.S. Embassy in Honduras! The U.S. & Foreign Commercial Service provides market information, business facilitation services, advocacy, and high-level access to U.S. companies interested in exporting to or doing business in Honduras. The Honduran market is extremely receptive to the vast majority of U.S. exports, from medical equipment and consumer goods to industrial equipment and agricultural inputs.

Our staff (located in our offices in Tegucigalpa) cover the entire country, including San Pedro Sula and the north coast. This area has the second largest city in Honduras, is home to many Maquilas (assembly plants), the best seaport in Central America (Puerto Cortes), and is a favorite vacation site for Hondurans. With CAFTA expected to increase trade, and a Milleniuem Challenge Corporation road project about to begin that would better connect the rural parts of the region, it is an excellent potential destination for U.S. goods and services.

The Commercial Section of the U.S. Embassy helps American companies export to Honduras or advise on investment and partnering opportunities. This aim is achieved through many programs, such as the International Partner Search, the Gold Key Matchmaking Service, and the International Company Profile. Our staff can identify best prospect business partners for U.S. exporters and create communication channels. They are expert at identifying committed companies who can deliver on business transactions.

Whether you are a first-time exporter who has never contacted us before or a major multinational needing help expediting a customs procedure, we are your partner and want you to contact us. For more information, please click here: www.buyusa.gov/honduras/en/
