Missions to the San Pedro Sula Area

Every year, thousands of American citizens come to Honduras to donate their time and skills to improve the lives of Honduran citizens.  Many of these efforts are funded through the U.S. Military and the U.S. Government; however, private citizens and churches fund a large number.  It is this feeling of camaraderie and caring for Honduras that has brought the U.S. and Honduras closer together and continues to strengthen and fortify the bridges of understanding.

Volunteer Missions

For you reference, we have listed those missions of which we are aware that are taking place in the area of San Pedro Sula (including the departments of Yoro, Cortes, and Atlantida).  For a more thorough updated list of missions throughout Honduras, visit the Project Honduras website at http://www.projecthonduras.com.

Military Assistance

With the region at peace, the U.S. military works cooperatively with the Honduran military "to enhance cooperative regional security through forward presence and peacetime engagement operations."  These activities include exercises, humanitarian and civic assistance projects, disaster relief, and support for counter-drug operations.
